Germany Part 2`

Germany the land of Farming. I swear everywhere you look there is either Corn, Wheat, or Cattle and Horses growing, It is amazing, who knew such a major production state could be so farm land oriented. Also, along with the farming, Germany is home to the worlds largest production of wind energy, Everywhere you look you see the wind turbines, just turnin away. Wake up and go to bed with them. Another thing that germany has is Bratwurst, had my first one last week, and it was kind of different, Not sure if I am a fan of those.

Germany The Land of.........Part 1 of 10

Well Germany The so called land of potatoes. Well to be honest, in six days that I have been here, I have had some form of potatoes only twice. I guess the big thing about Germany is how much CORN they grow. Unbelieveable. Who knew so much corn could be in one place. It is everywhere you go. But hey even then Not so much corn is actually eaten. They have quite a variety of food. And boy is the food delicious. Anybody would love it, even if your a picky eater. Go ahead try some german food.

Day on The Town.

Being a day of chilling and going out, My host mom, Annegret, oldest son Cord, and I went into Bremen. There I saw some really cool things and ate some really good food. It was amazing. Bremen the town of the Brementown musicians. It was all really cool. From the history, to the cobblestone roads, to the statues, even to the food.

Wilkommen Juli

As I walked out of the airport on Tuesday afternoon I was gretted by many many people. My first host family,Klaus, Annegret, Cord-Christian, and Michael, Goeken. My club counselor Sylke and her husband Hubert (club president), and the YEO officer for D1850 Zanete and her daughter Madara. It was so cool to see them all. My first host family is really cool, food is amazing, but the weather currently sucks. It has done nothing but rain for the entire time practically. It is crazy.  But it is okay. Wouldn't change it for the world. It is all part of the expierence. Can't wait to start school.

The Adventure Begins

With all of the summer activities winding down, and everybody getting ready for school, I will be taking a different plane ride, quite literally. In exactly one day I will be boarding Delta Airlines and fly to Germany, to spend a year as an ambassador, student, and friend with Rotary. I wish the best of luck to all those who have left already, those who will be leaving and future exchange students. We are leaving a legacy, leave no stone unturned. And to all those back home, I will miss all of you. and you will be in my thoughts. Loves and hugs and thanks. You are all in my heart and mind. See you all in a year.

A Week To Go

With only a few days to go, I realize that I am really ready to go, but also not so ready to go. I know that it is all set in stone, but I am a little nervous, and I have learned that I will be for a while. But I am very ready to go. Ready to make a name for myself, and start out on my journey of adventure, and creating better goodwill and friendship among the world's nations.

What Will I Miss The Most

As departure day nears people always ask me, what are you going to miss the most? My response, obviously my family, my friends, and american food, but there are some odd things I am going to miss, such as wyoming weather and wind, I know weird right, how about the simplicity of everything everything in Wyoming, or the fact that we have it easier off, yes true I will miss some weird things, but the truth is, I am going to miss Wyoming itself, and everything in it, or a part of it, It's in my blood, I can travel all the way around the world, but I will always come back. But Bring on the challenge, I know its knocking at the door, but I can't answer it until the 8 of August.

My First Host Family

I heard from my first host family on Friday May 20th, 2011. Found out that I will be living just outside of Syke in a small village called Gessel. It is about 2.5 miles from Syke, so I get to ride a bike to school (I am going to be in shape when I come home). My host dad Klaus is a patent, trademark, and design  attorney, while my Host mom Annegret is a teacher at the local university. She teaches german, mathematics, and science. They have three sons. The oldest  Cord-Christian is 21 and is studying Law/Langauges  mainly spanish and english. He was a rotary exchange student and went to Mexico. There next son Michael is 19, and will help me the first few months I am in Germany. He was also a Rotary Exchange Student, but he went to Brazil.  Michael is planning to go to college for Electrical engineering. He starts college in fall. There youngest son Vinzenz is my exchange brother. He is going to Brazil, and is leaving in July.  In there family they have a large garden (woot) and a small dog named Racka. They also have birds and fish.  So it sounds like my family is a very interesting one. I am sooo excited to go to Germany.

District 5440 Confrence.

After a weekend full of stuff from setting up Thursday to a banquet on Saturday. To painting a house, and raising enough money to buy five shelter boxes. This weekend will be one weekend I will always remember. Getting together with fellow Rotarians, Inbound Students, and some Outbound Students, this weekend will be one that I always remember. Thank you for the amazing weekend. Good luck to all of our students, Inbound and Outbound, and remember the lessons this week. This may be a great year now, but when you look back, you will see it just a jumping block, Be yourself, Have fun. Make good decisions. And always remember the good times.
